Swapping Book Stories with Colin Powell

Colin Powell and I have at least one thing in common. We both had a book published in 2012. I was visiting George Washington University in the fall of 2012 for Parent's Weekend, and I had my book (Rock Your Ugly Christmas Sweater) in hand as it was hot off the press and I was planning on giving a copy to my son while visiting him at his college.

And what luck! Colin Powell was doing a book signing at the University for his latest release It Worked for Me.

And that's where I got this photo!

What a year that was for me! My sweater business (MyUglyChristmasSweater.com) had taken off and it was full steam ahead in the craft room where we were producing thousand of hilariously funny Christmas sweater creations.

I had been working on a book venture for about a year with Brian Clark Howard, and our book Rock Your Ugly Christmas Sweater was hot off the press and about to hit the store shelves in the fall of 2012.

And so there I was with my book in hand, and waiting in line at Colin Powell's book signing. I had the fleeting idea to give him a signed copy of my book as well, but thought better of it as security was tight it would have undoubtedly caused confusion and the humor more assuredly wouldn't convey. So I did the next best thing and got a photo with Mr. Powell as well as a picture to promote my book.
